B. wo und wie sie das Instrument gekauft haben, warum gerade diese Gitarre und was sie mit ihr erlebt haben!!!

167 Minuten Geschichten über die Stratocaster und deren Einfluß auf die Musik ob Rock/Pop, Country oder Blues/Blues-Rock, R&B ... die Liste ist lang!!!

Mike Bayley Hughes u. Bob Hewitt, die diese Dokumentation gemacht haben, sind grosse Musikfans. Man spürt auch die Zuneigung zu einigen Musikern, besonders bei Bob Hewitt, der ein grosser Fan und auch persönlicher Freund von Rory ist/war!!!

here's a shot of rory and myself back in july 1984 at the calpe jazz festival in spain. i took 200asa colour slide film to photograph the event for guitarist magazine - thinking it would be fine in the hot spanish sun. i didn't realise that rory wouldn't perform until after darkness - at midnight so as it would be cooler. i had to uprate the film 4 times to be able to get a suitable light reading with the stage lighting - and ended up shooting mainly black and white at 1000asa! the evening before the concert, dónal treated us all to a fabulous paella dish at a local seafood restaurant - we all sat outside enjoying the evening warmth - and singing everly brothers songs late into the night! rory had a road manager called arthur cookson at the time - but i haven't heard from him for many years - (maybe he will read this!). it was one of the first gigs with mark feltham on harmonica - and i have it recorded on my little hitachi tape deck. i've promised dónal i will try and locate the tapes for him to maybe 'clean up' and possibly issue at sometime in the future. Für Bob Hewitt war es wichtig Rory am Anfang und am Ende einzubinden, was ihm sehr gut gelungen ist!

Rory ist aber einige Male auf der DoDVD zu sehen. Die Aufnahmen stammen von aus dem Jahr 1993. Rory erzählt, wo er seine Strat gekauft hat und zeigt sein unübertroffenes Slidespiel. Mein persönliches Highlight ist, als Rory zeigt, wie er seinen eigenen Stil entwickelt hat und auf die Frage, warum gerade eine Strat. sagt Rory: ... mit ihr könne er alles spielen und fängt an wie Buddy Guy und Hank Marvin ... einfach genial ... DAS! ist Rory Gallagher!!!

Bob Hewitt hat uns freundlicherweise einige Bilder von Rory überlassen und uns ein wenig dazu geschrieben, was wir Euch hier gerne zeigen!!!

Fazit: Die DoDVD ist natürlich ein Highlight für jeden Rory-Fan, aber auch die Geschichte über dieses Instrument und die vielen anderen Musiker macht diese DoDVD zum echten SCHATZ!!!
